Tom High

Tom has been involved with the amateur theatre scene since 2010, and we couldn’t be more delighted to have him as a cherished member of the Hardwicke Players. Over the years, he has immersed himself in every aspect of backstage operations, amassing a considerable depth of knowledge and expertise. His roles have spanned from dedicated stage hand to proficient stage manager, allowing him to refine his skills in managing complex productions.

Tom’s organisational prowess is nothing short of exemplary. He has a remarkable talent for overseeing the diverse array of tasks that accompany production management, ensuring that all components come together harmoniously. His ability to devise innovative and creative solutions means that scene changes are executed with a level of precision that’s truly impressive. Time and again, Tom demonstrates an uncanny knack for foreseeing potential issues, addressing them proactively before they disrupt the flow of the show.

Beyond his operational skills, Tom’s vibrant personality shines through in every off-stage role he embraces. His commitment to excellence consistently results in stellar outcomes, earning him the respect and admiration of both cast and crew alike. It’s no wonder that, given his myriad of talents, Tom was warmly invited to join the Hardwicke Players committee, where he has seamlessly integrated himself into our family.

In his committee role, Tom has quickly become a cornerstone of our group. His contributions have greatly exceeded our expectations, characterised by both enthusiasm and unwavering dedication. He approaches every challenge with a positive mindset, inspiring others with his tireless work ethic and collaborative spirit.

Despite his firm focus on backstage responsibilities, Tom is, in fact, a triple threat in disguise. His passion for the performing arts often finds him spontaneously singing, dancing, and reciting lines from the production—often from the wings and impressively without the aid of a script. This joyful and playful demeanour brings an extra layer of excitement to our productions, surprising and delighting everyone involved.

While he has made it abundantly clear that he has no desire to step into the spotlight, we can’t help but feel optimistic about the future. With his extraordinary versatility and hidden talents, we hold out hope that one day he may choose to embrace the idea of performing on stage, sharing his gifts with a broader audience. Until then, we consider ourselves fortunate to have Tom as an outstanding backstage force and a valued member of our theatre community.
