Winston’s Wish

Robyn Hood & The Legend of Sherwood – January 2007

Winston’s Wish proudly holds the title of the UK’s first childhood bereavement charity, having dedicated itself to offering vital grief support to young people since its establishment in 1992. Throughout the years, this invaluable organization has extended its reach to over 60,000 bereaved children and young individuals across the UK annually, providing them with the assistance they need during some of the most challenging times in their lives.

Their services are designed to be inclusive and accessible to any bereaved individual up to the age of 25, regardless of the relationship they had with the person they are grieving or the time frame in which their loss occurred. This wide-ranging support illustrates Winston’s Wish’s commitment to standing beside those who are navigating their grief.

In addition to direct support for young people, Winston’s Wish offers guidance and resources for adults who are supporting bereaved individuals. This includes a variety of stakeholders such as parents, family members, friends, teachers, and other professionals who play a crucial role in helping these young individuals cope with their loss.

Understanding that grief is a deeply personal experience, Winston’s Wish acknowledges that each individual processes their emotions differently. Therefore, they emphasize that there is no universal solution to bereavement support; what works for one person may not be effective for another. This personalized approach ensures that every bereaved young person receives the type of support that resonates most with their unique needs.

We are proud to share that through our efforts during our very first Pantomime, we raised £800, which we were able to donate to Winston’s Wish. This contribution will help further their mission of providing essential support and resources to young individuals experiencing loss.
