The Huntington’s Disease Association

Wizard of Oz – January 2012

In 2012, The Hardwicke Players were thrilled to announce their support for the Gloucestershire branch of the Huntington’s Disease Association. Huntington’s Disease (HD) is a complex neurological disorder and ranks as the third most prevalent inherited condition in the UK. This hereditary illness arises from a mutation in a specific gene, which results in progressive damage to nerve cells in the brain. The impact of Huntington’s Disease can be far-reaching, manifesting in various ways that affect individuals both physically and mentally. Symptoms may include involuntary movements, difficulties with coordination, emotional disturbances, and cognitive decline, which can significantly alter a person’s quality of life. By partnering with the Huntington’s Disease Association, The Hardwicke Players aim to raise awareness and provide much-needed support to those affected by this challenging condition.
